1982 Was the first year of the YZ490. It was a major redesign from the 465. Linkage suspension, new engine, new transmission. This one is all here and ridable. The engine ran out strong and solid. The transmission shifted well and the clutch had good feel. This engine will be perfect for your restoration.

I will split it up if someone needs parts, but would rather sell it as a complete running unit. Parts came off my 1982 Yamaha YZ490. Many yz490 parts carry over to the 250 or 125 or to other years. I only guarantee fitment on 1982 YZ490.
